Náš Jih – Digital Platform and Identity for Participatory Budgeting

Náš Jih is the participatory budgeting project of the largest district in Ostrava. Over the past decade, it has become a key civic initiative enabling residents to actively participate in decisions about public investments.

The Challenge

Participatory budgeting projects often struggle with low engagement and complex communication.
The goal was to create a system that is easy to understand, accessible to a wide audience, and capable of supporting long-term growth.

The Solution

Over a 10-year partnership, we designed and continuously developed a comprehensive visual identity and digital platform that make the participatory budgeting process clear, engaging, and accessible.

What We Did

  • development of a bold logo and distinctive visual identity
  • creation of a flexible visual system supporting long-term communication
  • design and development of the website nasjih.cz
  • UX design focused on clarity and accessibility
  • development of a voting system based on D21 principles
  • ongoing support and evolution of the platform

Our Approach

The key was to remove barriers and make participation intuitive for everyone.

We focused on:

  • simplifying complex processes into understandable steps
  • designing a visual identity that is both distinctive and approachable
  • creating a digital platform that serves as a central hub for all interactions

The website was built with user experience at its core, enabling residents to easily explore projects and participate in voting. The D21-based voting system ensures transparency, fairness, and accessibility.

The Outcome

  • a stable and continuously evolving platform with a 10-year track record
  • strong engagement from local residents
  • a recognizable and consistent visual identity
  • a trusted digital solution for public participation
